Public Policy

Where we stand.

Markets work when investors can trust what they are told. This is how OHLCV Labs works within India’s rules, and what we will not do.

Our status

OHLCV Labs is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as an Investment Adviser or a Research Analyst, and is not a stock broker.

We build trading research software. We do not give investment advice, research reports, stock tips or trading calls to the public, and nothing on this website is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security.

Education, not advice

SEBI draws a clear line between teaching people about markets and telling them what to trade. Since 2024, SEBI-regulated firms may not associate with unregistered people who give securities advice or make performance claims, and in January 2025 SEBI set out how genuine investor education differs from advice.

We stay on the education and technology side of that line. When we show how our software works, we show the method, not a call to act.

Our product demo

  • The demo is a recorded snapshot of our own dashboard, frozen on the date shown. It is not live and it does not update.
  • Every trade in it is a paper trade: simulated, with no real money, at no broker. It places no orders and accepts none.
  • Signals, ratings and labels such as “Buy” or “Accumulate” are outputs of our models at that moment, shown to explain the software. They are not recommendations, and they are not meant for anyone’s investment decisions.

Performance figures

Any profit, loss or win rate you see from us comes from simulated paper trading on our own system. It is not a return anyone has earned, it has not been verified by SEBI’s Past Risk and Return Verification Agency (PaRRVA), and past results, simulated or real, do not predict future ones.

We show those figures with every brokerage and statutory charge counted, because the gap between gross and net is the part most people never see.

Algorithms and the 2025 framework

SEBI’s 2025 framework for retail algorithmic trading requires anyone offering algorithms to retail investors to be empanelled with a stock exchange, and anyone offering undisclosed (“black box”) strategies to hold a Research Analyst registration.

Our algorithms are proprietary. We do not offer them to retail investors, through a broker or otherwise. If that ever changes, it will only be after the registrations the rules require.

Artificial intelligence

Our software uses machine learning and language models to score news and produce signals. SEBI now requires registered advisers and analysts to disclose their use of AI tools to clients. We hold ourselves to the same standard: we say plainly where models are used, and a model’s output is never presented as certainty.

Your data

This website does not use advertising trackers or sell personal data. Where we handle personal data, we follow India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025: we collect only what a purpose needs, keep it only as long as that purpose lasts, and act on any request to see, correct or delete it.

Payments

We do not take payments or hold client money today. If we do in future, it will be through providers authorised by the Reserve Bank of India, under its payment aggregator rules.

Questions or concerns

If anything on this site reads like advice, or you think we have got something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
